Indiana Tractor-Trailer Crash Leaves One Dead and Two Others Injured

A tractor-trailer driver was killed and two others injured in a collision Tuesday morning along Interstate 70 in Hendricks County, Indiana. According to reports from the Tribune-Star, the crash happened around 7:30 AM, near mile marker 57, just outside Monrovia, Indiana.

Reports from the incident filed by troopers with the Indiana State Police who responded to the scene indicate that a 64-year-old truck driver from Indiana was broken down on the side of the interstate and hooking up to a tow truck driven by a 30-year-old man. Read more »

While riding a motorcycle or moped can be an effective and efficient way of getting around town, they do present a greater risk of injury to the rider in the event of an accident.

Take for instance the case reported by WTHITV 10 News yesterday of a moped rider left in critical condition after crashing into a vehicle without a helmet on. Drunk Driver Pleads Guilty To Fatal Indiana Car Accident

Justice will soon be served for the family of a 28-year-old Terre Haute, Indiana, man who was killed when the drunk driver of the car he was riding in crashed. According to The Tribune-Star, the driver pled guilty last Friday to the class-C felony charge of causing death while driving intoxicated.

The accident happened on Christmas Eve of 2010. Both driver and passenger were intoxicated and racing up and down the streets of Terre Haute, until the driver lost control of the vehicle and crashed into a tree on Ninth Street, just north of Cherry. Read more »

FDA Lowers Dosage Of Acetaminophen In Children’s Medications

With changes recently being made by the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) to lower doses of acetaminophen in medications for adults, the agency is now tackling lowering the dosages of the drug in medications for children and infants. According to an FDA Press Release, the changes come after an April 2011 report showed that confusion on dosages had caused overdoses in numerous children, causing them to become very sick. Vigo County Parks Implement New Safety Measures For Workers

Following a fatal mowing accident earlier this year, the Vigo County Parks and Recreation Department in Indiana has implemented measures to improve safety for workers, as mandated by the Indiana Occupational Safety and Health Administration (IOSHA). According to The Tribune-Star, mowers are no longer allowed on lawns with a more than 30-degree slope, and only full-time employees have access to the keys for mowing equipment.

The changes come after an employee drowned in August when he was trapped beneath a mower that had flipped into the pond. Read more »

Maintenance Worker Killed In Accident At Indiana Steel Mill

A maintenance worker at the Nucor Steel mill in Crawfordsville, Indiana, died in an accident at the site several weeks ago. WISH-TV 8 News reported that the 47-year-old man was killed on October 25th, around 11:00 in the morning, when he was struck by a piece of machinery.

Witnesses told investigators that the worker was part of a contractor’s crew from Mississippi at the site to do maintenance work during a scheduled outage. Read more »

IU Student Dies in Apartment Fire

Indiana University students are still mourning the loss of a 19-year-old student that died over the weekend in an apartment fire. According to Channel 10 News, the girl died of smoke inhalation and carbon monoxide poisoning.

The fire broke out just after 3:30 in the morning on Saturday in building D of Terra Trace Apartments. Firefighters discovered the student’s body laying by a porch door. Attempts to resuscitate her failed, and she was pronounced dead on the scene. Read more »
