A 43-year-old Valparaiso, Indiana, woman was killed after being involved in a collision with a tractor-trailer on Tuesday. According to The Post-Tribune, the accident happened at the intersection of U.S. 30 and CR 600 West in Porter County.
Reports from troopers with the Indiana State Police say that the 52-year-old driver of a 2009 Freightliner truck was heading west on U.S. 30 when he began to cough uncontrollably. Read more »

A tractor-trailer driver was killed and two others injured in a collision Tuesday morning along Interstate 70 in Hendricks County, Indiana. According to reports from the Tribune-Star, the crash happened around 7:30 AM, near mile marker 57, just outside Monrovia, Indiana.
Reports from the incident filed by troopers with the Indiana State Police who responded to the scene indicate that a 64-year-old truck driver from Indiana was broken down on the side of the interstate and hooking up to a tow truck driven by a 30-year-old man. Read more »

Justice will soon be served for the family of a 28-year-old Terre Haute, Indiana, man who was killed when the drunk driver of the car he was riding in crashed. According to The Tribune-Star, the driver pled guilty last Friday to the class-C felony charge of causing death while driving intoxicated.
The accident happened on Christmas Eve of 2010. Both driver and passenger were intoxicated and racing up and down the streets of Terre Haute, until the driver lost control of the vehicle and crashed into a tree on Ninth Street, just north of Cherry. Read more »

It is always tragic when a car crash happens and a person dies, but the level of heartbreak is always multiplied when an innocent child is the one taken. That was the case Monday in Teutopolis, Illinois, when a 2-year-old female toddler was killed when a tow truck struck the vehicle she was riding in. A maintenance worker at the Nucor Steel mill in Crawfordsville, Indiana, died in an accident at the site several weeks ago. WISH-TV 8 News reported that the 47-year-old man was killed on October 25th, around 11:00 in the morning, when he was struck by a piece of machinery.
Witnesses told investigators that the worker was part of a contractor’s crew from Mississippi at the site to do maintenance work during a scheduled outage. Read more »

Indiana University students are still mourning the loss of a 19-year-old student that died over the weekend in an apartment fire. According to Channel 10 News, the girl died of smoke inhalation and carbon monoxide poisoning.
The fire broke out just after 3:30 in the morning on Saturday in building D of Terra Trace Apartments. Firefighters discovered the student’s body laying by a porch door. Attempts to resuscitate her failed, and she was pronounced dead on the scene. Read more »

A man was killed last Wednesday night outside Indianapolis, Indiana, when he stopped to help another motorist change a tire and was hit by a semi-truck. According to Channel 10 News, the accident happened in the southbound lanes of I-465, just before midnight.
Authorities say two motorists in a silver Pontiac had stopped on the shoulder of the road to change a tire. Moments later, a pickup truck pulled up behind them. Read more »

For the first time since the tragic stage collapse at the Indiana State Fairgrounds, the band that was set to play that night, Sugarland, has been named as a defendant on notices to several entities being accused of responsibility for the accident. According to Channel 13 News, the August 13 stage collapse caused by gusts of high wind, killed seven people and injured 40 others.
Two families who suffered losses at the concert filed notices earlier this week against at least 15 companies, organizations, and individuals, including Sugarland, claiming their actions were the cause for the accident and deaths. Read more »

A 17-year-old boy died Monday afternoon after falling from a moving garbage truck. Channel 10 News reports the truck was operated as part of a business owned and run by members of the boy’s family.
The young man was riding on the front of the truck on a county road on the outskirts of Parker City, Indiana, as the crew the boy was a member of worked to pick up trash along the road. Read more »
