Safe and Sober, St. Patrick’s Day 2012
We’re happy to report that we provided 28 rides during our St. Patrick’s Day Safe and Sober ride home program. Our goal by providing this free service is to help keep everyone safe on the roads. In the future, please remember the following holidays we provide free cab rides: New Year’s Eve, Super Bowl Sunday, St. Patrick’s Day, Halloween, and Thanksgiving Eve.
Terre Haute Humane Society
We held several fundraisers and successfully collected $627.11 for the Terre Haute Humane Society. Thanks to everyone who participated to help raise funds and awareness for this great organization!
Veterans' Day Ceremony
We honored veterans by having a ceremony at our office, including a guest speaker. We also attended the annual Veterans' Day Parade in Terre Haute as a group and celebrated some amazing men and women! See more photos.

Indiana State University's Job Fair
We participated in Indiana State University's job fair on September 28. Lindsey Sanquenetti, the firm's human resources manager, was available to answer questions and tell students more about the career opportunities at our law firm.
Terre Haute Walk Now for Autism
We had a great time at Terre Haute Walk Now for Autism on September 17. The event helped raise more than $53,000 to benefit autism research, awareness, advocacy, and family services.
Travis J. Smith Outstanding Junior Golfer Awards
We were proud to have attorney Tom Newlin present the Travis J. Smith Outstanding Junior Golfer award to Sam Pollock and Bailey Craft at the Terre Haute junior city golf tournament! Click here for more photos.

Indiana Blood Center Donations
A bloodmobile from the Indiana Blood Center came to our office on June 7. We all pitched in and were able to donate a total of 41 units of blood.
Special Olympics Indiana 42nd Annual Summer Games
We volunteered at the Special Olympics in Terre Haute from June 3 to 5 and celebrated amazing individuals as they competed in a variety of sporting events.
Parke County Marathon and 50k
We participated in this beautiful race during May 28 and 29!
Relay for Life of Vigo County
For the past several years we've been proud to take part in Relay for Life of Vigo County. This year the event was on May 6, and once again we showed our support for our friends, family members, and neighbors who have been affected by cancer.
Yard Sale to Benefit Relay For Life
We held a yard sale April 30 in the parking lot of our office, and raised more than $1,200 to benefit our Relay For Life team! Click here to see photos.
March Against Hunger Food Drive
We raised $3,075 and donated a total of 16,494 pounds of food during the third annual March Against Hunger food drive, which was sponsored by the Indiana State Bar Association and Feeding Indianas Hungry (FIsH).
Safe and Sober Free Ride Home: St. Patricks Day 2011
We sponsored our Safe and Sober Free Ride Home program on St. Patricks Day and paid for more than 40 rides home!
Indiana State Bar Association's Talk to a Lawyer Program
Attorney Jeff Lind participated in the Indiana State Bar Association's 10th Annual Talk to a Lawyer program on January 17. The program offered a free statewide hotline that allowed people to call for help with their legal questions. More than 200 lawyers were available to answer the calls and provide legal advice. There also were 35 walk-in locations across Indiana where people could meet with attorneys in person. Click here to watch Jeff talk about the program on WISH-TV.

Terre Haute Humane Society
Thank you for helping us raise more than $500 for the Terre Haute Humane Society this holiday season! Kassandra Coffey and Susan Waltz from the humane society came by to pick up the donation, which will be used to buy treats and other items the animals need this winter.
Photos with Santa Claus
We invited our neighbors to put on their best holiday sweater and get their photos with Santa Claus to help make a difference on Saturday, December 4! We took photos from 8 am to noon at our main office located at 201 Ohio Street. Each photo cost $3, and all proceeds went to the firms Relay for Life team to benefit the American Cancer Society.
Veterans Day 2010
We held a ceremony at our firm to recognize and thank area veterans, and then attended the Terre Haute Veterans Day Parade together. It was great to see all of our friends and neighbors show their appreciation for some very special people!

Wabash Valley Dancing with the Stars

Terre Haute Walk Now for Autism Speaks
We joined other members of the community on September 25 at the Vigo County Fairgrouds for the Terre Haute Walk Now for Autism Speaks. We helped bring awareness to those affected by autism, which affects one out of 110 children born in the United States. Thanks to everyone who helped our six-person team raise $500!
Annual Law Firm Family Picnic
We had our annual firm picnic and celebrated a day of fun that brought everyone together. In addition to grilling hamburgers and hot dogs, attendees chipped in and brought their signature side dishes. The picnic also included cotton candy, popcorn, and a bouncy house! Click here to see more photos.

Cutest Baby Contest
We recently held a Cutest Baby Contest at the law firm to raise funds for Christa Pierces participation in Wabash Valley Dancing with the Stars to benefit CHANCES for Indiana Youth. Congratulations to LaDonna and her sweet baby, Ava, who won after raising $109.78! LaDonna and Baby Ava received a $50 Wal-Mart gift card as their first place prize. With all the entry fees and money donated, we raised a total of $373.95!
Muscular Dystrophy Association Lock-Up
Amber and Lacey were bailed out of jail during the Muscular Dystrophy Association's Lock-Up on July 14. The jailbirds were held at the TGI Friday's in Terre Haute and raised bail to benefit local patients and families affected by muscular dystrophy. Altogether, the firm raised $701 for the event!
Cookout to Benefit United Way
Memorial Day Ceremony
Today, everyone at the firm wore matching blue shirts in honor of Memorial Day, and we held a special service outside our building. Steve Fleschner led the ceremony by explaining what Memorial Day means to him. He also honored staff members Camille Webster and Jeanie Swalls, as well as his dad, George Fleschner, and another family member who have all served in the military.
We also took this opportunity to recognize those in the military by putting the names of loved ones on wooden sticks with American flags, which were placed around the building and down the sidewalks.
MDA Taco-in-a-Bag Day
We raised $193 for the Muscular Dystrophy Association during our Taco-In-A-Bag fundraiser on May 24! Thanks to everyone who participated and helped prepare the homemade treatsbags of corn chips filled with meat, salsa, sour cream, and lettuce. YUM!
Vigo County Relay for Life
Our Vigo County Relay for Life team raised $6,624.78, and we're not done yet! We had more than 50 members on our team who helped raised money. Thanks to everyone who participated in the relay!
Relay For Life Fundraisers: Penny War & Hat Day
We raised more than $200 for our Relay For Life team by holding two internal fundraisers, a two-month Penny War and Hat Day. Thanks to everyone who participated!
March of Dimes Walk for Babies
The Community 1st team raised $1,406 for the March of Dimes Walk for Babies. The walk started at 8:30 a.m. at Indiana State University's Memorial Stadium. Some people chose to do the 1-mile walk, while others walked 7 miles.
Relay for Life Yard Sale
The Community 1st team hosted a yard sale at the Fleschner, Stark, Tanoos & Newlin office on Saturday, April 17 and raised nearly $775 for their Relay for Life team. The yard sale included the chance to win a Asheville acoustic guitar. Proceeds from the guitar giveaway were contributed to the Relay for Life team as well. Congratulations to FSTN's own Toni Belaschky for winning the hot pink guitar!
Safe and Sober Free Ride Home: St. Patrick's Day 2010
The Safe and Sober program ran from 3 p.m. to 3 a.m. on Wednesday, March 17, and provided 26 safe rides home. Thanks to Yellow Cab of Terre Haute for its continued assistance with our program!
American Cancer Society's Daffodil Days
Firm members raised $210 during the American Cancer Society's Daffodil Days program from February 1 to March 12. Through a Web page dedicated to the cause, the firm raised donations in exchange for sending daffodils or Daffodil Days e-cards to loved ones. Donors also had the option of giving Gifts of Hope, anonymous donations given to cancer patients in hospitals and cancer treatments centers in the Wabash Valley.
100 Men Who Cook
On March 6, the firm's own Tony Tanoos prepared his famous "Tony's Beef and Chicken Kabobs" during 100 Men Who Cook, an event that invited 100 local "chefs" to prepare their best dishes to raise funds for the Terre Haute Children's Museum. In fact, Tony's outstanding culinary skills resulted in his booth selling out of kebobs within the first hour! This year's event was a huge success and raised $85,000-which is $27,000 more than last year-and was held at the Hulman Center at Indiana State University. On behalf of the firm, attorney Tony Tanoos gave a donation to the Vigo County Education Foundation (VCEF) for the Cam Cameron Scholarship Fund during an assembly at Terre Haute South Vigo High School on February 26. Mr. Tanoos presented the donation to his longtime friend and well-known Baltimore Ravens Offensive Coordinator Cam Cameron. The donation will help enable the VCEF to provide a grant to teachers with terrific ideas for providing learning opportunities in leadership for their students. Forget Work, Go Colts!
Firm members took a break from their day to cheer on the Indianapolis Colts before they played the New Orleans Saints in Super Bowl XLIV on February 6. Firm employee and former Colts cheerleader Christa Pierce organized the festivities, which included a pep rally, great food, and a football-throwing challenge. United Way Day
Twelve firm members raised nearly $400 in donations during the United Way of the Wabash Valleys fundraising drive to collect $24,000 in 24 hours.
Safe and Sober Free Ride Home: New Year's Eve 2009
Entering its second year of service, the law firm’s Safe and Sober Free Cab Ride Home program was available on New Year’s Eve and covered cab fares for 34 safe rides home.
3rd Annual Larry P. Fleschner Food Drive
In memory of Larry P. Fleschner and his philanthropic ways, the law office of Fleschner, Stark, Tanoos, & Newlin and Larry Paul Tanning Spa sponsored an annual food drive to support local charities in Terre Haute and Vigo County, Indiana.
Susan G. Komen Foundation Zumbathon
Several firm members will be worked it out during a Zumbathon to raise money to fight breast cancer on Saturday, October 31.
Safe and Sober Free Ride Home: Halloween
The Safe and Sober program was held this Halloween to keep both trick-or-treaters and those on the road safe by providing free rides to those who can’t drive or don’t have a safe way home.
Race for the Cure
On Saturday, October 3, 2009, firm employees took part in the Wabash Valley Susan G. Komen Race for the Cure at St. Mary’s of the Woods College in St. Mary of the Woods, Indiana. The employees came out in force with their friends and family to help raise money to battle breast cancer for both men and women. Fleschner, Stark, Tanoos & Newlin was proud to have a team in the sea of pink that morning.
Muscular Dystrophy Association Lock-Up
Firm members Sheri Knight, Stephanie Bartlett, Cassie Bettis, Stephanie Crampton, and Lindsey Sanquenetti were arrested for having big hearts during the Muscular Dystrophy Associations Lock-Up on July 23. Once their arrest warrants were issued, they were sent to Cheeseburger in Paradise and were kept at the restaurant until they could raise bail (donations). The ladies were successful in raising nearly $900 in just the first day!
Tupperware Sale to Benefit United Way
On June 15, several members of the firm participated in a month-long Tupperware sale with 40 percent of the proceeds going to United Way.
Terre Haute Junior City Golf Tournament
Fleschner, Stark, Tanoos & Newlin presented the Travis J. Smith Outstanding Junior Golfer Award to Thomas Goss and Rachel Welker, the outstanding male and female Junior City golfers. The recipients were given engraved crystal trophies, as well as the Terre Haute Golf Association’s traveling trophy that will be passed on to each year’s winners. Cookout to Benefit United Way
On July 2, 2009, the members of Fleschner, Stark, Tanoos & Newlin hosted a cookout to benefit the United Way. The event was a classic American grillout. The firm raised over $1,600 in donations, with 100% of proceeds going to the charity.
American Cancer Society's Relay For Life 2009
On May 1, 2009, the members of Fleschner, Stark, Tanoos & Newlin took part in the American Cancer Society's Relay For Life, where they joined others to celebrate survivorship, remember those who lost their lives to cancer, and raise funds to fight the disease. The firm raised nearly $5,200 for the event, which was held at the Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology.
Fleschner, Stark, Tanoos & Newlin Cookout for a Cure
The Cookout for a Cure, which served as a fundraiser for the American Cancer Society, took place on April 24, 2009, at 125 Harding Avenue from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Lunch and desserts were served for a price, and books were for sale during the cookout. The event raised $538 for the firm's Relay For Life team!
March of Dimes' March for Babies
On April 25, 2009, the members of Fleschner, Stark, Tanoos & Newlin participated in the March for Babies at the ISU Memorial Stadium at Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology. The firm raised $505 for the event, which supports programs that help moms have healthy, full-term pregnancies as well as funds research to find answers to the serious problems that threaten babies.
St. Patricks Day Safe and Sober Free Ride Home
This past New Years Eve, Fleschner, Stark, Tanoos, and Newlin, offered those who had too much to drink a free cab ride home courtesy of Yellow Cab of Terre Haute. The program was so successful the firm decided to offer it again for St. Patricks Day.
New Years Eve Safe and Sober Free Ride Home
More than 30 Valley residents arrived home safe on New Years Eve thanks to Fleschner, Stark, Tanoos & Newlin. The Safe and Sober Free Cab Ride Home program seeks to raise community awareness regarding the dangers of drunk driving and encourage individuals to make responsible choices by providing a safe transportation alternative during many of the traditionally high alcohol consumption holidays. Cab rides are made available to area residents who otherwise might attempt to drive home after drinking. Rides are provided to an individuals residence not to other drinking locations.
March Against Hunger Food Drive 2009
Fleschner, Stark, Tanoos and Newlin collected 682 pounds of food for the March Against Hunger Food Drive. Lawyers and law firms statewide competed to raise the largest amounts in donations, both monetarily and in quantities of nonperishable goods. Click here to read more.
2nd Annual Larry P. Fleschner Food Drive
During the firm's second food drive, barrels were set up at the FST&N locations and at Larry Paul Tanning Spa locations in Terre Haute to collect food donations. Firm members and food drive co-creators, Marci Childs and Jessica Cook, dropped off collected items once a week to local food banks. The members of the firm also held an internal clothing drive in conjunction with food drive. Employees were asked to donate clothing, which was taken to local Goodwill locations, the Bethany House, and other organizations that provide aid to those in need.
