Indiana DUI Accident Results In One Person’s Death and Leaves Another Injured

June 4, 2013

In recent years, law enforcement across the state of Indiana has seen a dramatic increase in the number of DUI arrests stemming from drugged driving. In fact, a recent Indiana DUI Accident claimed the life of a 73-year-old woman and left her 70-year-old neighbor seriously injured.

According to an article released by WTHITV 10 News, the crash happened just after 6 p.m. on Wednesday, May 29, near the corner of Commanche Trail and Brady Lane in Lafayette, Indiana. Reports indicate the female victim was working in the yard in front of her home and talking to her neighbor who was standing on a sidewalk. Moments later, a green SUV being driven by a 21-year-old woman drove through the deceased victim’s flower bed and struck her with the vehicle. The driver then overcorrected and struck the male victim before striking the trailer of a truck and crashing into a fire hydrant.

The impact of the collision resulted in the female victim dying at the scene of the crash, while the male victim was left seriously injured. Paramedics rushed the man to a local hospital, where he was last listed in stable condition.

Investigators suspected the 21-year-old woman was under the influence of a controlled substance and placed her under arrest.
