Too often, New Year’s Eve correlates with an increase in Indiana drunk driving accidents. Data from the National Institute on Alcohol Abuse and Alcoholism says that two to three times as many motorists are killed on the holiday as compared to any other day in December, with 40 percent of those traffic fatalities listing alcohol as a contributing factor.
In an effort to keep the number of Indiana drunk driving accidents from inflating this year, several organizations took action to keep drunk drivers off of the road. Two groups in particular who worked toward this goal were Indiana law enforcement officials and our Terre Haute car accident attorneys at Fleschner, Stark Tanoos & Newlin.
WLFI 18 News says Indiana troopers, deputies, and officers conducted sobriety checkpoints and saturation patrols throughout New Year’s Eve to ensure motorists were operating vehicles in a safe manner.
Our lawyers at Fleschner, Stark, Tanoos & Newlin also helped keep drunk drivers off the road by once again sponsoring the Safe and Sober cab ride home program. The campaign provides free cab rides home on New Year’s Eve to those who have had too much to drink.
Our law firm is dedicated to helping those who are in need, and we encourage you to check out some of the other ways we lend a helping had throughout the cities we serve by taking a look at some of the other community events and programs in which we participate.
