Former governor believes cuts to Social Security benefits are necessary

Former New Mexico Republican Gov. Gary Johnson believes there is too much government spending and changes to Social Security benefits are necessary, the Iowa Independent reports.

He believes there should be an increase in retirement age and raising the income threshold subject to Social Security tax.

He also said Social Security benefits should be reduced based on several factors.
