How Will Work Affect Your Social Security Disability Benefits?

The Social Security Administration is offering free Work Incentive Events (WISE) across the country on Wednesday, September 14 and Thursday, September 15 for those who are interested in learning about the agency’s Ticket to Work Program and how working might affect your benefit check.

The SSA says, “WISE are community events held by local organizations for beneficiaries to learn about the Ticket to Work Program and available Work Incentives through accessible, informal, learning opportunities.”

If you want to learn more but aren’t able to attend one of the conferences, you may instead attend a national online webinar on September 14. You may register for the webinar here.

According to the SSA, eligible beneficiaries may choose to assign their Ticket to an Employment Network (EN) of their choice or to a State Vocational Rehabilitation (SVR) agency to obtain employment services and supports necessary to achieve a work goal. The EN/SVR, if they accept the Ticket, will coordinate and provide appropriate services to help the beneficiary find and maintain employment.
