Social Security Administration Announces Upgrades To Online Benefit Management

The Social Security Administration (SSA) announced it has launched several new services to beneficiaries through its online account management services. According to a press release from the agency, the improvements were made to streamline several Social Security benefits processes and programs.

Recipients of both Social Security and Supplemental Security Income can now log in to their Social Security account to receive several items that once required a trip to a local Social Security office. Now, recipients can have a benefit verification letter at the touch of a button as proof of their income. Payment histories and earnings records are also more easily accessible now.

Currently, there are more than 60 million recipients of Social Security benefits who have access to the new systems; however, they are not the only ones who can benefit from the improvements. Anyone who is over the age of 18 years old, regardless of their work status, can sign up for an account to track information like earnings and benefit accumulations, as well as future benefit calculations that can be used to plan for retirement.

Ex-Commissioner of the SSA Michael Astrue explained the improvements will allow the agency to provide a faster and more efficient service.
