Woman imprisoned for collecting Social Security benefits illegally

A Mobile, Alabama woman has been ordered jail time for illegally collecting Social Security benefits, according to blog.al.com.

She will be in prison for 30 days then have 59 months of probation for Social Security fraud. She will also pay back the government $55,810.

Court records show the woman began collecting Social Security benefits when her husband died in 2001, but she remarried in 2004 and didn’t notify the Social Security Administration.
