Honoring Travis J. Smith: Celebrating a Legacy Through Terre Haute Junior Golf

At Fleschner, Stark, Tanoos & Newlin, we believe in supporting the communities we call home and honoring those who have made a lasting impact. Each year, FSTN proudly sponsors the Travis J. Smith Outstanding Junior Golfer Award in memory of Travis Smith, a talented young athlete whose life and legacy continue to inspire the Terre Haute community.

Travis was known for his dedication to athletics, his love of golf, and the positive influence he had on those around him. Although his life was tragically cut short in an automobile accident in Muncie, Indiana in 2007, his memory continues to live on through the people he touched and the opportunities created in his honor.

Celebrating Terre Haute’s Young Golfers

The Travis J. Smith Outstanding Junior Golfer Award is presented each year to one male and one female golfer who demonstrate excellence on the course and represent the qualities Travis embodied as a young athlete.

Recently, Tony Tanoos of Fleschner, Stark, Tanoos & Newlin presented the award to Holly Clapp and Austin Cheek during the Terre Haute Junior City Tournament.

Their dedication, sportsmanship, and commitment to the game represent the same passion for athletics that Travis shared.

Keeping Travis’ Memory Alive

Through the Travis J. Smith Outstanding Junior Golfer Award and the annual golf outing, Fleschner, Stark, Tanoos & Newlin is honored to help preserve Travis’ legacy and encourage the next generation of Terre Haute athletes.

While Travis’ life was far too short, the kindness, determination, and passion he shared continue to make a difference. Each young golfer recognized through this award represents a continuation of the values Travis displayed both on and off the course.
