Meet Founding Partner Steve Fleschner

For decades, Steve Fleschner has dedicated his career to standing up for working people and their families throughout Indiana. As a founding partner of Fleschner, Stark, Tanoos & Newlin, Steve has helped build a firm focused on advocating for individuals facing some of life’s most challenging circumstances.

A Background Rooted in Hard Work Steve’s commitment to helping everyday people began long before he entered the legal profession.

The son of a coal miner, Steve grew up with a deep respect for hard work and perseverance. His mother’s family came from farming roots, and many of his extended family members worked in factories or drove trucks. Those early influences shaped his lifelong commitment to representing working people and advocating for those who work hard to support their families.

That commitment ultimately led him to help found Fleschner, Stark, Tanoos & Newlin in 1988.

Building a Strong Educational Foundation

Steve’s path to becoming an attorney was built on a strong academic foundation.

He earned his Bachelor of Science degree from Indiana State University in 1971 before going on to earn his Juris Doctor from Washburn University School of Law, where he graduated with honors. He later continued his legal education by earning a Master of Laws from the University of Missouri-Kansas City.

His education, combined with decades of practical experience, has helped shape the attorney and leader clients know today.

Continuing to Serve Clients and Mentor Future Attorneys

While Steve has spent decades representing clients, he remains actively involved in the practice of law.

In addition to serving clients, he is known throughout the firm for his dedication to mentoring younger attorneys and helping guide the next generation of advocates. His leadership and experience continue to play an important role in the firm’s ongoing success.

Professional Involvement and Community Commitment

Throughout his career, Steve has remained active within the legal community through membership in several professional organizations, including:

Life Outside the Office

When he is not practicing law, Steve enjoys traveling, spending time with his children and grandchildren, taking his dogs for walks, and biking. His commitment to family, community, and helping others remains at the center of both his personal and professional life.
