The Value of Having a Woman Attorney on Your Personal Injury Team

Choosing a personal injury attorney is one of the most important decisions you’ll make after an accident. While experience, knowledge, and results are critical, many clients are also looking for someone they feel comfortable talking to during one of the most difficult times in their lives.

For some people, having the option to work with a woman attorney can make a meaningful difference.

Every Client Is Different

No two personal injury cases, or clients, are the same. Some people simply want an attorney who will aggressively fight for the compensation they deserve. Others are looking for someone who will patiently answer questions, listen to their concerns, and help them navigate an unfamiliar legal process with compassion.

Many injury victims, particularly women, children, or those who have experienced traumatic events, may feel more comfortable discussing sensitive medical issues, emotional trauma, or life-changing injuries with a woman attorney. Having that option allows clients to choose the attorney they feel best meets their needs.

At Fleschner, Stark, Tanoos & Newlin, we believe every client deserves to feel heard, respected, and supported throughout their case.

Meet Attorney Katie Fleschner McMullen

Attorney Katie Fleschner McMullen brings both professional experience and a lifelong connection to the Terre Haute community to every case she handles.

A lifelong Terre Haute resident, Katie grew up watching her father, attorney Steve Fleschner, dedicate his career to helping injured people rebuild their lives after serious accidents. That example inspired her own commitment to serving others through the practice of law.

“After an injury, people often feel overwhelmed and uncertain about what comes next,” says attorney Katie Fleschner McMullen. “I want every client to know they have someone in their corner who will listen, answer their questions honestly, and guide them through every step of the legal process with compassion and dedication.”

A Strong Foundation of Experience

Katie earned her bachelor’s degrees in Biology and Business from Hanover College, where she graduated cum laude while also excelling as a student-athlete on the Hanover tennis team. She was recognized as the Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference Freshman of the Year, Most Valuable Player, and a First-Team All-Conference selection.

She went on to graduate magna cum laude from Michigan State University College of Law, where she distinguished herself academically and served in several leadership roles, including Assistant Senior Notes Editor for the Michigan State Law Review and Vice President of the Intellectual Property Law Society.

Growing with the Firm

Katie’s experience with Fleschner, Stark, Tanoos & Newlin began long before she became an attorney.

She started working at the firm in 2005 as a personal injury case assistant and later gained experience as a receptionist, Social Security Disability case analyst, brief writer, and mass tort case analyst. These roles gave her a unique understanding of the legal process from multiple perspectives and reinforced the firm’s commitment to providing exceptional service to every client.

Since becoming an attorney in 2014, Katie has focused her practice on helping people injured by the negligence of others. She understands that every case represents someone whose life has been unexpectedly disrupted, and she is committed to helping clients move forward with confidence.

Compassion Paired with Strong Advocacy

Successful personal injury representation requires more than legal knowledge. It requires understanding the physical, emotional, and financial challenges clients face after an accident.

Katie is known for taking the time to build relationships with her clients, carefully explain the legal process, and advocate tirelessly on their behalf. Whether negotiating with insurance companies or preparing a case for litigation, she approaches every client with professionalism, compassion, and attention to detail.

Proud to Serve the Terre Haute Community

Outside the office, Katie enjoys running, walking her dog, traveling, and spending time with family and friends. She remains deeply connected to the Terre Haute community and is proud to represent the same neighbors and families she has known her entire life.

At Fleschner, Stark, Tanoos & Newlin, we believe every client deserves experienced legal representation and personalized attention. Having attorneys with different backgrounds, perspectives, and life experiences allows us to better serve the diverse needs of the people who trust us during some of life’s most challenging moments.
