Motorcyclist Killed In Terre Haute Collision Caused By Drunk Driver

August 29, 2012

A 22-year-old Indiana Man was killed recently in a motorcycle accident. According to The Brazil Times, the crash happened on Wednesday, August 8, at the intersection of College Avenue and 13th Street.

The Terre Haute Police Department stated that the man was passing through the intersection when a pickup truck allegedly ran a red light and T-boned him. The impact of the Indiana motorcycle accident threw him to the pavement, and the coroner determined he died from blunt force trauma to his chest and abdomen.

The 22-year-old driver fled the scene shortly after the accident, but was later caught by police. He is now facing multiple charges in connection to the accident, including two separate felony counts of driving while intoxicated causing death, as well as a single felony count of fleeing the scene of an accident.

Many states, including Indiana, are looking at ways to cut the number of drunk driving incidents. Over the coming days leading up to Labor Day weekend, law enforcement statewide will be running campaigns aimed at taking drunk drivers off the road, while legislators battle to pass laws that would require ignition interlock systems to be installed on the vehicles of anyone convicted of drunk driving.

The Indiana disability lawyers with Fleschner, Stark, Tanoos & Newlin ask that all motorists refrain from drinking and driving in an effort to our part to keep Indiana’s highways safe.
