Enraged Man Crashes Van into Michigan Social Security Office
July 6th, 2011|
A 47-year-old man from Kingsley, Michigan, purposefully crashed his van into a Social Security Administration office on Sunday night in Traverse City, Michigan.
The man told the Traverse City Record-Eagle that he ran into the front of the closed office on Munson Avenue in a “fit of rage caused by years of being screwed over by the government.” The man says that his Social Security Disability claim has been repeatedly denied for six years.
The man was not hurt. He was arrested shortly after the incident for malicious destruction of property, which could land him in jail for up to five years. He was released on Monday, and the Associated Press reports that formal charges are pending.
The office reopened as scheduled for business on Tuesday, though debris and damage to the building were still very much visible.
