Social Security earnings statements will no longer be mailed in an effort to save money, according to thirdage.com.

This is not an issue related to the current possible government shutdown, and those receiving Social Security benefits will still receive their checks.

There are current negotiations as to how to distribute Social Security benefits earning statements in the future.
