Two motorists were left seriously injured as the result of an accident that occurred earlier this week between a car and a tractor-trailer. According to WTHITV 10 News, the crash happened just before 2:30 a.m. Tuesday at the intersection of 3rd and Chestnut Streets near downtown Terre Haute, Indiana.
Reports from Officers with the Terre Haute Police Department indicate a maroon Ford Escort sedan was passing through the intersection when it was suddenly struck by a tractor-trailer that was also passing through the intersection. The impact of the Indiana Truck Accident pushed the sedan, carrying two passengers, into a utility pole before screeching to a halt.
Rescue crews were summoned to the scene and had to extricate one of the motorists from the Focus before the pair could be transported to a local trauma center to have their injuries examined further and treated. The driver of the big rig was not hurt in the incident.
Police say they are still working to determine which vehicle failed to render the right-of-way at the intersection. Investigators and added they are looking into what contributing factors may have led to the accident as well.
The Indiana Disability Lawyers with Fleschner, Stark, Tanoos & Newlin recognize how dangerous an accident with a large vehicle, like a tractor-trailer, can be and would like to wish those who were hurt a full and speedy recovery from the injuries they sustained in the crash.
